Customer Since

ASSA ABLOY, a global leader in security solutions, needed to speed up its cloud operations and provide its subsidiaries' developers with agility and autonomy. With Redeploy's expertise and Azure Platform as a Service, ASSA ABLOY transitioned to a scalable and secure cloud platform, enabling self-service while maintaining centralized governance and security.

In Brief

  • ASSA ABLOY required a modern cloud platform to provide greater autonomy and efficiency to its global subsidiaries.
  • Redeploy implemented Azure Platform as a Service, enabling faster deployment and self-service management.
  • Subsidiaries now operate autonomously and cost-efficiently under central governance, cutting deployment times from weeks to minutes.

The Challenge

ASSA ABLOY manages a wide range of global subsidiaries, including many acquired companies. Integrating these independent, fast-moving entities into the central IT system required a solution that could keep up with their speed and support their growth. The existing processes, although reliable, needed to be faster and more flexible to help these subsidiaries scale effectively.

The main challenge was creating a cloud platform that allowed subsidiaries to operate autonomously without compromising on security and governance standards. The solution needed to be scalable, cost-effective, and capable of accelerating deployment times to support the global subsidiaries.

"We needed a solution allowing our subsidiaries to work independently while maintaining the security and governance of our central IT systems. Redeploy delivered exactly that, moving us to the forefront of cloud operations."

– Anders Hernodh, Director of Cloud and Product IT Operations at ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions

The Solution

Redeploy is addressing ASSA ABLOY's challenges by delivering Azure Platform as a Service, a standardized cloud platform designed to automate infrastructure operations, boost autonomy, reduce time to market, and lower costs. Key features include:

  • Self-Service Landing Zones: Automatically provisioned landing zones for subsidiaries, reducing lead times from days to minutes. This self-service model empowers subsidiaries to manage their environments independently while maintaining central governance.
  • Decentralized Access with Central Governance: Subsidiaries could manage access in their environments, automatically adhering to central guidelines.

– Anders had a clear vision and an effective way of explaining what he wanted, which was crucial for us in delivering a solution that these subsidiaries would actually want to use, says Lars Åkerlund, Product Lead at Redeploy.

Beyond the platform implementation, Redeploy Build helped migrate existing workloads, ensuring a seamless transition to the new cloud environment.

Results

The new cloud platform has transformed ASSA ABLOY’s IT operations:

  • Autonomy and Speed: Subsidiaries can now operate autonomously, managing their environments without delays and significantly improving operational efficiency.
  • Reduced Deployment Time: Landing zones can be deployed in minutes instead of days, reducing lead times across the organization.
  • Cost-effective Operations: The platform has proven to be cost-efficient, allowing ASSA ABLOY to optimize their cloud spending.
  • Ongoing Collaboration: Redeploy Run continues to manage and improve the platform, fostering further collaboration with ASSA ABLOY’s subsidiaries and advancing their Azure solutions.
“Redeploy has been instrumental in providing us with a platform that our subsidiaries not only use but rely on to drive their own innovations. The balance of autonomy and centralized governance has been key to our success.”

– Anders Hernodh, Director of Cloud and Product IT Operations at ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions
